Ultrasound-guided Hyaluronic OSTENIL® Injection

Overview

MSK ultrasound Imaging and Injection also offers ultrasound guided OSTENIL® injections, as an alternative to cortisone injection. OSTENIL® is a solution containing sodium hyaluronate. It is injected into the space in the joint that contains synovial fluid. The effect of OSTENIL® means that it can decrease pain and stiffness and improve the other symptoms of osteoarthritis. OSTENIL® TENDON is used to treat pain and restricted mobility in tendon disorders caused, for example, by overuse or inappropriate biomechanical stress.

An OSTENIL® injection can offer relief for people suffering from various conditions such as:

– Osteoarthritis of different joints including hip and knee joints
– Tendinopathies including trigger fingers and shoulder tendonitis

Before the procedure, you will discuss the benefits and possible complications of the injection with the consultant, who will then follow up with a consent form.

After the procedure, you will be provided with a care advice leaflet and you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions.

You will then be advised to wait for 15-20 minutes, so that we can ensure that you’re safe to be discharged home. We do recommend that you are accompanied by a family member or friend whilst having this procedure.
